Ferrer is a Spanish pharmaceutical company that is undergoing great international growth. Focusing on health and patients’ quality of life, it works day by day towards a better future. It listens, learns and acts accordingly, with a global vision.

Since the 70’s its success has been based on R+D+I: Basic research, development of products with new galenic forms and technological innovation, as well as ad hoc solutions for its clients, especially in the food and chemicals sectors.

Ferrer is now present in more than 60 countries. It markets products of a high scientific standard through its subsidiaries, joint ventures, licensees and distributors. In the process to consolidate itself at an international level, its maxim is “think globally, act locally”. The strategic alliances that it has set up at a local level enable it to sustain its globalisation policy.

Ferrer continues to grow solidly at a global level, applying the same values that it has followed since the very beginning: experience, honesty, rigour, creativity and enthusiasm.

These are the milestones in its history:

  • 1959: Laboratorios Ferrer, S.L. was founded
  • 60’s: Growth and consolidation of Laboratorios Ferrer in Spain
  • 70’s: Internationalisation, diversification, R+D+I
  • 1975: A new factory was opened
  • End of the 70’s: Clear commitment for R+D+I
  • 1977: Opening of the Ferrer International Research Centre
  • 80’s: Incorporation of new technologies in production plants, acquisition of the Zoster chemical plant
  • 90’s: Commitment for the Food sector
  • 2000 onwards: major expansion in Latin America and Mediterranean companies. Growth in alliances, joint ventures and subsidiaries in order to increase Ferrer Group presence in Central America, South America and countries in the Mediterranean basin.
  • Ferrer Group has recently acquired OTC Ibérica, a Spanish company founded in 1983 by a pharmaceutical-financial group formed of professionals of recognised academic and professional prestige. Its objective is to offer the pharmaceutical market dermatological products of maximum quality with innovative formulations. This premise and a will to serve has been the firm’s constant theme over twenty years of research, and the result is that it is now the leader in galenic innovation of dermatological products, pesticides and repellents for human use on the Spanish market. Similarly, it has also created specific dietary products for hair and nail disorders.

Within its strategy for growth and global vision, Ferrer Dermatology is one of its most significant divisions. It offers dermatologists a wide range of products to treat diseases such as mycosis, dermatitis, psoriasis, cutaneous lymphomas, etc.

Ferrer Dermatology is particularly focusing on identifying new corticosteroids and new antifungal compounds in order to improve the efficacy and safety of its drugs. Progress is the objective. Sharing opinions, talking, and exchanging information are ways of achieving it.
